We often get asked, "What's your favorite speakers?" My immediate response is, "How much time do you have?" Speakers can range from being cheap and general, to esoteric and expensive. Some speakers work better in certain rooms than others. Some require enough amplification to power a rock concert! So where's the balance? I guess it's a matter of personal taste, but as your A/V Sherpa we try to carry lines that range in price and sound quality that we personally recommend. Whether it is knowing the designers or standing behind a unique technology, we only suggest products we would put in our own homes or business.
A few years back, I was attending a EXPO where most A/V manufacturers will display their new products for the year. I was making my usual stops and saying hello to people when I heard a speaker that stopped me in my tracks. It was Sandy Gross (longtime speaker designer and founder of Polk, Definitive Technologies and now Golden Ear) showing his new creation (the SuperCinema). I was blown away! It didn't sound like a regular speaker. It had the smoothness and soundstage of electrostatic but the loudness of a traditional speaker. It was clean and detailed. The size was small and amazing. Paired with a ForceField Sub it was a really a force (no pun intended) to be reckoned with. Years later, we are proud to offer the full line of Golden Ear Technology products.
Over the last couple of weeks, we have had the opportunity to put in a few the SuperCinema sound bars. I am personally not a big fan of soundbars, but the SuperCinema 3D and the SuperCinema3D XL are a perfect replacement for floor standing speakers if you are old school like me. When we do the system test, the customers are blown away when they hear it in their home. No EQ, no break in period, right out of the box and everyone's usual response is OMG! The ForceField subwoofers are some of the most accurate I have seen to date. Small in size, yet powerful and will shake you the right way with it's subharmonics. We recently demonstrated the sub with a trailer from Brad Pitt's new movie Fury, you would have thought the tank was in the room!
If you want true audiophile quality that rivals speakers costing in excess of $40,000, without spending a fortune - then look no further! Golden Ear has a full line of products including floor standing speakers, wall mount, soundbars, in-ceiling and subwoofers.
