Home cinema and commercial imaging manufacturer, Wolf Cinema, has released key upgrades to four existing home theater projectors, plus two new projector and processor ensembles. The projector and processor ensembles are built around 6th generation three-chip D-ILA light engine technologies.
“This is truly an exciting time for home theater enthusiasts around the world,” Jim McGall, Director of Sales for Wolf Cinema, said in a statement. “The promise of breathtakingly detailed images from 4K content can now be fully realized with these Ultra HD-ready home theater projectors. They each come with an all-new, fourth generation V4K temporal mapping technology core, which can display true 4096 x 2160 content on very large home cinema screens. But while the pixel count and refresh rates are extremely high, it’s the combination of an accurate color palette, improved dynamic range and ultra-deep shadow detail performance that really makes the visual difference. And the two special editions with our latest external ProScaler MK IV video processor will satisfy even the most discriminating video enthusiast – with an expanded CMS calibration suite, advanced noise reduction algorithms, multiple HDMI 2.0 inputs and outputs, plus our popular E-VariScope imaging technology, eliminating those unwanted top/bottom ‘black bars’ when firing onto ultra-wide 2.35:1 CinemaScope screens.”
The SDC-8, SDC-10, SDC-12 and SDC-15 platforms have been upgraded to provide compatibility with all forthcoming Ultra HD [4K] consumer video content. Retailing at $8,000 MSRP, the 2D95/3D Wolf Cinema home theater solutions incorporate 18Gbps Ultra HD HDMI 2.0 inputs with HDCP 2.2 compatibility – with 4K60 4:4:4 sources – in addition to a ~30% increase in peak white levels over previous editions [to ~1900 ANSI lumens], the deepest black level performance in its class [up to 1,500,000:1 dynamic CR], full HDR compatibility, VariScope aspect ratio memories, custom factory gamut and gamma calibrations, and more.
The two flagship ensembles combine the SDC-12 and SDC-15 theater projectors with a custom outboard ProScaler MK IV video processor. The 4K ready systems – models SDC-12 Ultra 4K and SDC-15 Ultra 4K – deliver images on home theater screens up to 14 feet wide.
